I had already been here before and have been wanting to try other places in downtown, but I got drawn to this place again because of its lovely ambiance and good service and food. This branch of Shakespeare and Co is located inside the Souk Al Bahar in Downtown Dubai. The outside seating has beautiful views of the Burj Khalifa and is absolutely perfect when the weather is good. Both times I have been here, I’ve had a good experience and will definitely be coming back here again.
What we had
Rising flower tea – A green tea infusion with marigold flowers presented in a glass teapot with sweets on the side. The tea was kept warm with a candle under it and was very soothing. They have a good selection of herbal teas.
Turkish Coffee – The server asked how sweet I would like the coffee to be and it was made just how I like it. I loved how beautifully presented this was and it came with some sweets on the side too. That little cake (Don’t know what its called) is absolutely delicious! I wish they gave a few more of those 😉
Egg Shakshouka – Poached eggs in onion, garlic, bell pepper and tomato sauce with chilli pepper and spices. You can add 2 toppings for free. I chose to add just mushrooms but I barely got any mushrooms in it though. The Shakshouka however was really nice. The eggs were cooked perfectly and tasted delicious with the spiced tomato sauce.
Granola bowl – Low sugar granola, strawberries, poached peach, blueberries, honey and chia seeds on natural yoghurt. This granola bowl presentation was very pretty and colourful. It made me want to dig in as soon as it arrived at the table. The fruits were fresh and the drizzle of the honey gave it a little bit of sweetness. I was glad this wasn’t very sweet but it did disappoint me that there was very little granola in this. It was pretty much like eating yoghurt and fruits. Quite refreshing nevertheless.
This is a perfect place to enjoy a good meal with beautiful views of the Burj Khalifa in a relaxed ambiance.
