Brownie Point (Al Karama)

I went here with my daughter when we were in the area. I had heard a lot about the cakes here and was very keen to try a few.  We had a couple of pastries while we were there and did a takeaway as well. Some of the pastries we had were really good and some were okay. But as far as service goes, it didn’t gain any brownie points from me. The staff were fine – they took our order and served us. But the ones who seemed to be the managers / owners did not even acknowledge us. They were busy doing their own thing. I would have expected at least a hello and a welcome when we went in. We were the only ones there so it wasn’t that they were busy.

What we had

Mango and Choco Hamdan – I really liked the texture of this cake and it tasted quite good too. The mango flavour was quite subtle though and I wish I could have tasted more of it.

Dutch truffle – I had heard good reviews about the Dutch truffle and it didn’t disappoint. It was moist, chocolaty and not too sweet – just how I like it. A must have.

Macaron – My daughter had this one and she really liked it. It had a nice crunch to it and was also decorated well.

Lemon tart – The lemon tart had a good lemon flavour but had a slight eggy after taste. I didn’t like it much.

Blueberry cupcake – The blueberry cupcake was nice. The frosting was not too sweet, which was perfect. The cupcake had blueberry filling, which was a pleasant surprise.

Chocolate Brownie – I had high expectations from the chocolate brownie. It was good but not very exciting.

The cakes on display looked really good and I will consider them for my daughter’s birthday. I was however quite disappointed by the service here so will stick to just ordering in the future.

Child friendly – YES
