Brunch with the little one at Oompa Loompa

We had a nice family brunch at Oompa Loompa over the weekend. My little one is at an age where it’s difficult to get her to sit and have a meal. So I am constantly looking for places which are kid friendly and places where she could play and dine too. When I saw some photos of Oompa Loompa, I knew it would be place which she would like too.

Oompa Loompa is located at JBR (Jumeirah Beach Residence). It is inspired by Willy Wonka with colourful and fun interiors. There is also a play area for kids so you could enjoy a nice coffee and cake while watching your kids play.

The staff was polite but I would have liked it if they were a little friendlier considering it is a kid friendly restaurant. They seemed a little preoccupied by some party preparations and had no interaction (not even a smile) with us or my little one, except take the order and serve the food. The food was good and the service was pretty quick.

What we ordered

DRINKS

Orange juice , Tea, Americano – The orange juice was fresh and the little one loved the wonky glass in which it was served. I was also very pleased to see a paper straw and not a plastic one.

I loved the cup in which the Americano was served. It was too cute!

FOOD

Pancakes – We ordered pancakes for the little one. We also watched while our pancakes were made which the little one found very exciting. The pancakes were nice and fluffy and were served with whipped cream and strawberries. The presentation was okay, the cream was melting but they tasted good. The portion was really good.

Apple pie and Ice-cream Crepe – This was quite delicious, especially the apple pie filling, which was very tasty but I thought the overall quantity was a bit less. I would have liked a little bit more on the plate – more filling or fruits maybe.

Eggs Benedict on waffle with Salmon, Avocado and cream cheese – I liked the waffle touch and the eggs were cooked as per our liking. The dish was presented well. It all came together and tasted quite good.

I thought for the food the place was a bit pricey but it is worth it especially if you have kids. For me, having a play area, the interiors and a place where the little one would have a good time, made it an enjoyable experience. I’d like to go here again.
