Ashiana is an Indian restaurant located in Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel and Towers. We were staying at the hotel over the weekend and decided to go here for dinner. The interiors are nice – regal and elegant. They had a live band singing Bollywood songs which we enjoyed. Our little one enjoyed the music too and danced to the songs. The staff was very friendly and the service was very good.
What we ordered
DRINKS
Chilli cocktail – I don’t remember the exact name of this cocktail but I really enjoyed it. It had a nice kick from the chilli.
Mango Bourbon Sour – This was nice but quite similar to a normal bourbon sour – couldn’t quite taste the mango.
Mango lassi – We ordered a mango lassi for the little one. It was good.
STARTERS
Poppadum – While we decided on our order, we were given poppadum and chutney to nibble on.
Potato pakora – We were served a complimentary appetizer to start with – a bite size potato vada served with a mint chutney. It was accompanied with an apple and ginger shooter which was very tasty. The pakora was really nice too.
Ashiana platter – We ordered the non veg platter which had an assortment of tandoori prawns, mutton seekh kababs, murg malai tikka and chutney fish tikka. Everything was tasty. I especially liked the malai tikka and the prawns. The little one had the malai tikka too and seemed to have really liked it.
MAINS
Achari Murg – Chicken cooked in Indian pickling spices, yoghurt and onion. The chicken pieces were tender and the flavours of the curry were nice, however we thought the yoghurt gave it a creaminess because of which the achari (pickling spice) flavour was lost.
Saffron rice – We ordered this for the little one. The rice was perfectly cooked – every grain was separate and it was very flavourful. We liked it a lot.
Breads – We ordered a butter garlic naan and a butter naan to accompany the achari murg.
DESSERTS
Shahi tukra – Dessert made up of fried bread served in condensed milk and with dry fruits. It was good and the presentation was lovely, but I would have liked the bread to be a little softer.
We had a nice evening here, especially because of the music and the service.
Child friendly – YES. The live music is quite loud but our 3 year old was comfortable there. In fact she enjoyed it a lot. The band even sang a children’s song for her which was very sweet of them. The staff was conversing with her and they were helpful while ordering food for her.
