Back to Grills opened just 6 months ago and I had already heard so much about it. We got a chance to try out the food yesterday and had a delicious meal here. This place had a lovely relaxing vibe to it with some nice tracks from the 90s playing in the background. We sat indoors but they also have a cute little outdoor seating area. The staff was polite and the service was pretty quick. I prefer local produce and I was very happy to learn that Back to Grills follow a sustainable approach for sourcing their food. Apparently everything is from local farms and their meat (except obviously the Salmon) comes from Ajman. It was good to know that the meat was fresh and wasn’t frozen. We thought this really came through in the quality of the food, which was excellent.
What we had
STARTERS
Crispy noodles – I am a huge fan of Indo Chinese cuisine and these Indo Chinese style fried noodles were absolutely amazing! I could have eaten bowls and bowls of just this. It was perfect – crispy, spicy – not too overpowering and a perfect starter!
B2G fiery prawns – Prawns skewers marinated in homemade spices and butter fried. Firstly I loved the way these were presented! The prawns were cooked really well and the spice marinade was very unique and tasty. The dipping sauce had interesting flavours and was quite nice. I loved the salad on the side too – it was a nice fresh touch to the dish.
Chargrilled beef brochettes – I am not a fan of beef but this dish was recommended by our server and I have to say it was really good. The beef was accompanied with mushroom and potatoes on skewers. I loved mushrooms and potatoes but the beef was tender and delicious too. We really enjoyed the flavours. We would have preferred the sauce to be on the side instead on top of the skewers.
Peri Peri salsa fries – Peri Peri spiced fries with cheese sauce and salsa. These were quite tasty and very moreish. The cheese sauce wasn’t over the top which was perfect and the salsa sauce was given on the side so you could add as much as you want. I liked that the peppers still had a crunch and the fries were crispy too and not soggy. This was pretty much a meal in itself!
DRINKS
Guava Mary – I ordered the Guava Mary which was really nice. The glass was rimmed with salt and red chilli powder which complemented the drink. The drink was very refreshing and acted liked a palette cleanser.
Salted caramel shake – This was quite nice too. It wasn’t as thick as you would expect a milkshake to be and wasn’t very sweet, which was perfect. This was good to sip on with the spicy food.
MAINS (B2G SIZZLERS)
Grilled pepper chicken – Chargrilled chicken breast with pepper sauce, grilled veggies and mashed potatoes. The chicken breast was delicious – succulent, well marinated and perfectly cooked. The pepper sauce was really tasty too. I also loved the veggies and pretty much had all of them – they were so good! They had a lovely smokey flavour to them and tasted fantastic! The mash was creamy and went very well with everything.
Harissa lamb shanks – The lamb shanks were excellent! The meat was cooked to perfection and was falling off the bone. The harissa spices were different and very tasty. I wasn’t a fan of the rice but it tasted OK with the lamb.
DESSERT
Tangerine baked yoghurt – We were very stuffed so we decided to order something light to share. We loved the baked yoghurt. This was a perfect end to the meal. It was light and the flavours were absolutely delicious! I definitely recommend this one!
We liked everything we had here and liked the relaxing ambiance too. A must visit place for meat lovers. They also have a good selection of vegetarian dishes too. Overall, a wonderful experience!
