We had heard of Raju Omlet from a friend but we hadn’t been there until a branch opened near us in Business Bay. It wasn’t what I was expecting it to be as we entered – it is quite a small place, tight on space and very few tables but once you settle down at your table, this place grows on you. Especially if you grew up in India, Mumbai specifically, this place will get you nostalgic and you would be able to relate to the decor and vibe. This place has made eggs the centrepiece of their menu and serves a wide array of egg dishes. The service is quick and we enjoyed everything we ordered.
What we ordered
DRINKS
Adrak Chai – Tea with ginger. I usually don’t order tea when we are out due to very specific kind of tea preference. But we couldn’t resist the temptation of ordering an adrak chai. It was probably the nostalgia and just the ambiance which made us have it. Glad we did because it was really nice.
EGG DISHES
Mumbai Omlet Sandwich – This is their take on the famous Mumbai vada pav – an egg omelette served in a pav with coconut chutney. The coconut chutney went very well with the egg. I could have easily eaten a couple more of these – very tasty.
Boiled eggs with masala – This was not as good as I was expecting it to be. A little disappointing but was okay. The chutney was a good addition though.
Gotala – This was a medley of eggs and an onion based curry – difficult to describe but it was our favourite dish here! It was spicy, flavourful and very delicious! You can have this either with a paratha or pav. We opted for a wholewheat paratha. I definitely recommend this dish.
Cheese plain Omlet – We ordered this for the little one. She liked and we thought it was quite good too.
Raju Omlet is a good place for a quick meal. It is not pretentious or fancy but has excellent service and good food! Definitely plan to go here again to try some of their other dishes.
