Wok boyz is an Asian street food place which serves customised wok bowls. They have 2 outlets in Dubai and yesterday we got a chance to visit the Trade Centre Area one. The first thing you notice is the very cool graffiti wall. The seating is outside and we were very glad that it was a lovely cool evening. We had a very relaxing meal.
What we ordered
Coconut water – We saw this on the menu and just had to have it. This was sweet and so refreshing!
Vegetable spring rolls – I love spring rolls and these were delicious! They were crispy, non greasy and very tasty.
We ordered two customised wok bowls. This involved 5 easy steps.
1 Choose your base
2 Choose a protein
3 Choose 2 veg options
4 Choose a sauce
5 Finishing touches or garnishing
Wok 1 – Udon noodles with prawns, shiitake mushrooms and Bok choy, Wok Boyz special sauce (Chilli basil sauce tossed in garlic), topped with fried garlic and sesame seeds.
Wok 2 – Udon noodles with tofu, shiitake mushrooms and baby corn, Indonesian heat sauce (Sambal sauce made from chillies, spices and herbs), topped with peanuts
We also asked them to make a small portion for the little one, which had noodles, chicken, broccoli with Japanese sizzle sauce (Teriyaki sweet soy sauce).
The Woks arrived within 15 minutes, served in the classic takeaway boxes. They were a bit messy so the pictures don’t look that good but they were both tasty. Especially Wok 2 with the Indonesian sauce was delicious! I would definitely recommend this sauce.
We will surely order from or visit this place again.
Child friendly – YES. The drawback is that the seating is just off a (not very busy) road so you have to keep an eye on your kid all the time. But the staff were friendly and happily customised our little one’s meal.
